Vet Bills/Pet Medication - Seeking Advice from SA

April 20th, 2016 at 02:22 pm

Hello my S.A. friends. We have an 8 year old chocolate lab who, just this week, has been diagnosed with diabetes. The vet is still trying to regulate her insulin use and figure out the proper dosage. Our visit to CVS (the first night) was $160 for 1 bottle of insulin and $30 for the needles.

Have any of my fellow S.A.'ers been through this and can recommend anywhere on-line to buy Insulin cheaper? I have heard of Vetsulin (doggie insulin).. but vet said we first need to get her regulated.

I'm going to call Sam's Club today and Walmart to hear their prices.

We have the money for our Beloved doggie, but WOW.. $500 in the past 2 days...

Thank you for any advice

Advice Please....Best place to sell used books?

July 15th, 2015 at 02:50 pm

Good morning SA. I have some books lying around the house and I was wondering if any of you can recommend an online place to try to sell them and what are your experiences? Amazon? Half.com? Half Price Books?

Thank you and I look forward to your responses.

Some Good Changes

May 14th, 2015 at 06:25 pm

Employees who ride the bus at my work will receive free monthly bus passes for 18 months if we complete a few surveys. Sign me up! I automatically added that money to my 401(K) bi-weekly deduction. Every little bit helps, right?

Also, my husband received a promotion at work yesterday. I'm very proud of him.

We went out to dinner last evening to celebrate. I don't remember the last time we did that without our twins Smile We enjoyed ourselves.

I have a $3 pinecone paypal coming in tomorrow.

Have my fellow SA friends had any good fortunes or snowflakes lately?

An Easy "Free" $3

April 8th, 2015 at 01:59 pm

Hello my S.A. blogger friends. Just thought I'd let those that utilize CVS Extra Care Bucks.. If you download their App to your phone, they send you three Extra Care Bucks for free.

I had JUST downloaded the App last week, and when I opened it today on my phone, the $3 was there.

Good luck, thought this might help a few (Banker Gurl).

Love any snowflakes Smile

My Snowflakes Today

March 17th, 2015 at 05:19 pm

I have added about $18 to my Amazon gift card balance today. I had $3 from Swagbucks, $5 from Bing (its like they've switched amounts for earning $$), have redeemed $4.04 in Chase Freedom points, and I had an old gift card with $5.90 that I bought an Amazon gift code with. I found out how to do this little trick on SA blogs.. so thank you.

What snowflakes have come in for you? We are still waiting on our tax returns to be directed deposited. We received a tidy sum this year, so I'm excited to receive those. Its hard to wait.

Back to School and Fees Fees Everywhere

August 7th, 2014 at 06:01 pm

Hello all!
I am a bit down today over all these school fees we are required to pay. As my blog says, I have 15 year old twins, both who play sports. We have our "team" meetings coming up, my daughter's "fee to play" will be $300, as will my son's. Another $35 each for "lab fees" and pictures next week. And as they are growing teenagers, they are eating me out of house and home.
We put our usual money in savings and college savings this month, but there won't be a ton of extra to put in additional savings. And for that, I feel guilty for some reason. Then, because of this, I go into "uber cheap" mode. Its a vicious cycle. I haven't even been to the thrift store for back to school clothes for my dauther. Son doesn't care about that. LOL
I'll just be happy when Sept. and October are here and we can get back to normal. I don't like feeling guilty. I don't even SPEND that much on other items... Sigh.

I did get a $3 pinecone and soon to cash out for $3 at Bing.

I must have patience and count my blessings.

Chase Freedom Bonus Received

July 18th, 2014 at 03:01 pm

I received my bonus points for the Chase Freedom Card today. Woot! total was $235! ($200 for spending $500, $25 for using hubby's card, and $10 for misc. spending).

I plan to put this snowflake in my Capital One account to save for my daughter's possible Soccer Showcase trip to DisneyWorld in December.

Am now in my spending 5 debit card transcations for my Capital One checking. Plan to do two today, 1 at Subway and 1 at CVS. Then I will only have 1 more transaction to receive my bonus.

Also received in the mail my Barclays card. Still need to activate that, which I will do today. That goodie will give me $400 towards possible trip.

Thank you CCF for showing us these snowflakes. Am truly grateful (and impressed by your saving savvy).

Keep your tips coming!

What Did You Do To Save Money This Weekend?

June 30th, 2014 at 08:26 pm

Hello all. Hope you had a good weekend.

What did you do to save money this weekend? I made dinner at home on Saturday night and didn't leave the house, so I had a NSD. Yesterday, we had several home improvement projects that my husband and I accomplished. Funds spent on materials only. It was a long, hot day, but we were so pleased once finished.

Today, I brought my lunch from home and will make dinner at home this evening.

I also spent my $500 requirement on my new Chase card and will receive $225 back in bonus cash. (Thanks CCF! for the idea).

What did my frugal SA friends do to save money this weekend?

Barclays Arrival MasterCard - $400 CC Bonus

June 23rd, 2014 at 02:45 pm

Hello all!
Following CCF's snowflakes, I was intrigued by the Barclays Arrival Travel Mastercard, which has a $400 bonus for travel after you spend $3,000 in 90 days, which we could easily do and pay off with some business expenses for my husband.

We may be traveling for my Daughters's soccer team in December, so i though this might behoove us to apply for it.

Any thoughts - negative or positive? CCF - do you have this card?

I just did the Chase card where you earn $225 for spending $500 in 90 days. That will be easy to finish.

Thanks for any advice on this card.

What Frugal Things Have You Done today

June 20th, 2014 at 05:30 pm

I love hearing everyone's ideas and thoughts about how to be more frugal (CreditCareFree! gives me great ideas, hope to get even more from everyone here!)

Today, I earned a $6.00 debit card which I added to my Amazon account.

I paid for a small Subway sub with my points, so no money out-of-pocket.

Hubby cleans the pool each day, so no $$ spent on an expensive service.

Will use up a .44 and a $1.15 gift cards on a coffee tomorrow, my daughter's and my Saturday ritual. Hey, its money!

What frugal thing did you today?
