What Frugal Things Have You Done today

June 20th, 2014 at 04:30 pm

I love hearing everyone's ideas and thoughts about how to be more frugal (CreditCareFree! gives me great ideas, hope to get even more from everyone here!)

Today, I earned a $6.00 debit card which I added to my Amazon account.

I paid for a small Subway sub with my points, so no money out-of-pocket.

Hubby cleans the pool each day, so no $$ spent on an expensive service.

Will use up a .44 and a $1.15 gift cards on a coffee tomorrow, my daughter's and my Saturday ritual. Hey, its money!

What frugal thing did you today?

I also loaded to my Kroger Store card to get a free protein bar and added six coupons for things I buy anyway! Teens are expensive to feed, especially two of them!

A lot of my everyday activities are frugal:
    - Put on my summer clothes, which are all from past seasons (nothing new bought this year so far and I hope to keep it that way!)
    - Walked to daycare pushing the sturdy double stroller, which we bought in lieu of getting a car when we had our second kid.
    - Took the bus from daycare to work (my job deducts the bus pass fee from my paycheck pretax).
    - Bought pastries for the office; I'll get reimbursed, will get credit card points, and got free breakfast out of it as well.
    - Brought homemade food for lunch; mixed-bean curry using ingredients we already had in the pantry. 3rd day in a row eating it, so not very exciting, but cheap!
    - Husband will pick up some of our groceries at Target using the Red Card for 5% off, plus use some coupons. We plan our meals and grocery list on a spreadsheet and buy according to which stores have the best deals on each ingredient; we estimate prices for each item on the spreadsheet to ensure we don't go over our weekly budget.
    - Will cook dinner tonight with what's in the kitchen: a simple tofu and bell pepper stirfry over rice.

Welcome to the SA blogs! I used free body wash today, and we have eaten at home for lunch, which we usually do. I have also decided not to use dryer sheets in our dryer as I heard about all the chemicals they leave on our clothes. We have soft water, so it seems to not make any difference without them. And to think I have been using those out of habit for years!

Hmmm, the day is young, so I haven't done much yet! Yesterday I ate leftover nachos for two meals (they aren't that bad microwaved!)
